Announcing The Hyperion x OEL CS:GO Launch Date

Posted by Oceanic Esports April 2, 2021 in ESPORTSEventsNEWS

The wait for the Hyperion x OEL CS:GO Launch is over as Hyperion Servers announced earlier today that the tournament will kick off on May 19-23, 2021.

The inter-regional online event was initially planned to take place in January. Unfortunately, due to an infrastructure damage that affected server latency in Asia, the double-elimination playoffs were postponed to a later date.

The Hyperion x OEL CS:GO Launch will feature participants from all over America, Asia, and Oceania. A total of 16 teams will duke it out for the lion’s share of the $17,500 prize pool as well as the inaugural championship title.

Among the confirmed competitors are NG Esports, D13 Esports, Beyond Esports, Chiefs Esports Club, and Huat Zai. Six teams from the open qualifiers—VERTEX Esports Club, Checkmate, ZIGMA, Integral Nation, Bizarre Gaming, and Sylyx Esports—will also be joining the fray. The remaining teams that will complete the lineup will be announced at a later date.

The competition will be hosted on Hyperion Servers’ newly-launched Guam game servers. Guam, the U.S. island territory in the Pacific, is located approximately equidistant to the major surrounding nations and represents both a new space for casual inter-regional gaming, as well as a level playing field for competitive regional play.

The upcoming competition is Oceanic Esports’ first foray into competitive first-person shooters, following the success of their Dota 2 tournaments.
